Re: 1st time VA user - Need help.

Randy...I hope that you were able to open the Word Document that I sent you, via email, several weeks ago, that contained Mac's documentation of the Jan 13, 1969 battle at Cai Nua. If you were not able to open it, please let me know and I will resend. This might help you with your story. Take Care M...

Re: Delta company made the Ken Burns epic

We never had press with us.....I believe that this picture was taken when we were returning to Dong Tam in one of those landing craft boats that they used to drop us off, every now and then, along the canals. We had just been informed that the 9th was going to be pulled out and returned to the states...

Re: Civil War Statues

I saw an excellent suggestion that someone posted in response to a Yahoo news article related to Trump not wanting to see these "beautiful statues removed". The suggestion was that "Since Trump claims to be a billionaire, why doesn't he buy all of the statues and put them into a Confe...

Re: Civil War Statues

The white supremacists and the Neo-Nazis were just using the statue as an excuse for their protest. From their chants one could see that they could care less about Confederate statues. I assume that the statues might mean something to the KKK members who were there....but....they are in reality just...

Re: No wonder the defense budget is as large as it is

Our proposed military budget is $660B....the defense budget of Russia and China "combined" is $300B. We just spent $13B on an aircraft carrier...this now gives us 11 carriers....Russia has 1, China has 1, Iran has 0, and North Korea has 0...so......why the heck did we need another "sl...

Some know and some don't know that Barry and I both graduated E-6 from NCOC, and, not only were we in NCOC at the same time...we were actually in the same company and the same platoon. He was on the first floor of the barracks and I was on the second. I was totally shocked when I was being introduce...

Re: So where was this monument and the story of why

Good question...I was there in June of 1969 but I don't remember it. If it is real, it was probably placed at Dong Tam...but...in my time in Vietnam, I never spent more than a hand full of days in Dong Tam.....spent most of my time from Feb - Sept at small fire-bases. Sept - Jan was spent with MACV ...

Yep! That was a great reunion, even if it did almost kill both you and me. Boy! That was quite a task!.

Guess that will end up being my last reunion...unless someone else is crazy enough to put together another 6/31sr reunion. :)

Re: Want a Lowe's discount?

Where I live, both Home Depot and Lowe's "used" to have the same plan; however, about 2 years ago Home Depot changed. Old plan: If you simply had a VA card both gave you a 10% discount. Heck.....I was once given a 10% discount at Lowes when I was wearing an Army t-shirt...they asked if I h...

Niner....I was beginning to worry about you in that you had not posted in quite a while. I was going to email you to make sure that you were ok. As you noted Vern and I check in frequently; however, it appears that you are correct.....our other men have moved on. I guess they have found all of their...

Jerry White's Vietnam Trip 2017

Hello 6/31st! Well, tomorrow my wife and I will be returning to "the world" after 6 months in Vietnam visiting her family in her village of Vinh Kim (near Dong Tam). This year we spent almost 2 weeks touring up north, and for the first time, I saw several Vietnam Vet tour groups. It appear...

Re: The Branson group shots

Sadly it appears that the 2015 Branson Reunion will probably go down as the last Reunion to have had a truly large number of 6/31st Vietnam vets in attendance. I have a strong suspicion that the majority of the folks reported as attending the 2016 31st Regiment Association 100th Anniversary reunion ...

Back from the trip and had a great time! Ron....Tom Slining used an approach that worked great for him. He avoided the tourist agency approach and did everything on his own. First he simply scheduled his own flights (BTW: Barbara and I paid only $900 per person for round-trip tickets), and he reserv...

Jerry White - Vietnam 2017

Well folks, I am back in Vietnam (Vinh Kim), and tomorrow (3/11) my wife and I will leave for a 10 day tour. We will fly from Saigon to Da Nang, then travel to Hoi An and Hue. We will then fly from Da Nang to Hanoi.....then travel to Ha Long Bay and Sapa. After Sapa, we will return to Hanoi for a fl...

Sorry...I can't vote for either choice. I believe that the conflict will continue, but I doubt that he will be removed from office...although I wish that he would be. He acts like the spoiled little rich kid bully that he is, and he doesn't appear to know the difference between the truth and a lie. ...

Richard Dorn - Bladder Cancer

This may bring some information, it’s a bit lengthy but here’s the link: http://www.va.gov/vetapp07/files2/0717857.txt Initially AO wasn’t presumptive in bladder cancer; in the cited claim there is a side concern with diesel fuel exposure, the vet filing the claim was awarded his claim. I recommend ...

Bladder Cancer and Agent Orange

Hello 6/31st, (Lt) Sam Martin, 3rd platoon leader, Delta Company, 1969 is battling bladder cancer and is wondering if any of our other 6/31st men have also battled this condition. He is considering filing a claim with the VA with thoughts that it might be due to Agent Orange exposure. If you have th...

Re: So Trump won anyway

Guess Moore thinks that it will make the Democrats feel better. Since the Republicans in Congress, in reference to Obama's Supreme Court nominee, keep responding with "let's wait until after the election, and listen to the 'will of the people'". Now the Democrats will be saying that "...
