Re: Arguments I get into on facebook

I ended up in Hawaii and us 9th Div leftovers formed the 4th BDE of the 25th Div. But I missed the deactivation ceremony as I was home on leave from Sept 16 to Oct 14 '69. As for Facebook, I do like to needle my liberal friends. Have had my share of arguments, but if they get too carried away my la...

Re: The not living up to our values world

That would be great if they stop in Mexico, and no one gets hurt, a win-win.
I see that some militia groups are saying they will go to the border to "help" stop them,
that would not end well.......

Re: The not living up to our values world

It seems that we don't do a very good job of living up to our values, yet our government seems to expect the rest of the world to live up to them. So the Saudi's killed that guy, they have a hit squad, we have a hit squad called the Navy Seals..... just ask bin Laden..... oh wait, never mind. I'm n...

Re: The Republican Presidents painting on Trump's wall

And if you enlarge it, I can see at least 9 other Presidents in the background. Not sure who the woman is, my guess is Michele Bachmann (R) that ran for President in 2012. I think they are laughing at how Hillary thought she was so sure to win. Maybe I will print this and put it on the wall, all my...

His brother certainly had a higher opinion of the ARVNs than I did....
And unless his brother finished his tour in VN, how did he get home on leave to
the States. I thought the closest you get to States on leave was to Hawaii.

Re: 1st time VA user - Need help.

I didn't get a Good Conduct back then, but did get 3 ArComs, 2 with "V" device. There is only 1 on my DD214, because the other 2 have my Social Security number wrong, but my serial number is right.... whatever. I do have the paper orders for all 3, so I can prove they are real, but prove ...

I sent for them several years ago and they included a Good Conduct Medal, with orders, that
wasn't listed on my DD-214.

Robert, you got a Good Conduct Medal after 2 years and I didn't get one after 3 years... guess you must
have behaved better than I did.........

Even though I haven't always agreed with the Association, it's too bad that they had to
cancel their reunion. I'm sure many were looking forward to it and I hope they have better
luck next year. Maybe they should consider the West Coast since we have very few weather
extremes out here...... :D

I haven't said anything here because I had nothing relevant to add. But I have kept up with this and am very glad for you that it has helped you more than just getting more money from the VA. Of course the money is great, but feeling better is the best thing. Congratulations on seeing this through....

Re: Branson Ride the Ducks tragedy

When I was a kid, we lived near the ocean...actually the Strait of Juan de Fuca, and there was a lot of logging industry back then that towed logs to mills in rafts. Often stray logs ended up on the beach rear us. This old guy had a surplus DUKW that he used to pull logs off the beach and make his ...

One of the things I read said they use the hulls from WWII DUKWs, but the engine and transmission
are new stuff. Although is sounds like the axles are old.

Five people were killed and 69 injured in a 2015 crash on Seattle’s Aurora Bridge.
If I remember right, it broke an axle and crossed the centerline and hit a tour bus.
The owners were fined $500,000.......

Wonder why those guidon bearers don't have 6th Army patches on their left shoulders?? The brass was usually picky about those things for any ceremony. The man on far right has one of the old style field jackets with the shoulder epaulettes and no hood rolled up in the collar. Those were highly priz...

Re: Know anybody in this photo?

No idea who or where or why photo was taken. But I have doubts it is a sniper school. Moss is one of the lowest ranked men in photo, a SGT E-5, all the rest have at least one rocker and 2 or 3 are E-7. Some of these guys seem too old to be crawling in the mud to be a sniper. The back row far left i...

"transition from combat to training".....yup, that didn't work too well. Training to do
something we already knew how to "actually" do, it was hard for us to do it the bullshit Army way.
Mostly we just fooled around and tried not to get caught......
