Lyle Wayne Hansen

Postby Niner Alpha » Fri Sep 01, 2006 10:04 pm

Lyle was not in my platoon but I remember the call over the radio that he
was caught in the open. The rest of his platoon were pinned down by heavy
fire and could not retrieve him until the next day. The enemy fire was to
intense to move forward. Lt. Harris and I provided cover fire as our units
pulled back for the air strike that was called in to vanquish the enemy
fire. The next day we retrieved Lyle. The bodies of the NVA soldiers
killed by the air strike were lying near Lyle.
His courage that day is testament to his dedication to his commrades and
his country. I will not forget him or his courage.
