Latest November message

Postby Niner Alpha » Fri Nov 15, 2019 1:55 pm

From an email mailed to unknown numbers of people and received today:

To let everyone know, rooms at this time are quoted at $85 a night at Branson towers.(http://bransontowershotel.com/) Phone:(417) 336-4500

If you call to make reservations, please let them know you are calling for the 6/31st reunion, and the coordinator for the hotel is Sarah Hord. If there is need for overflow, then the Angel Inn (on the strip) will be utilized at the same price.

While Dan and Dennise are there in 3 weeks, they will be talking to the hotels to see if there is a better rate to be negotiated. Crossing the fingers, but no promises! They will be also talking to the riverboat company, and several other business to see what type of discounts and deals can be worked.

There is a facebook page for this reunion as well, if you haven't seen it, it can be found here. https://www.facebook.com/631UnofficalBr ... union2020/

In case we were unclear as to the purpose of the entire reunion, it is to be a time of fellowship and brotherhood with minimum of pomp and circumstance. The entire focus is spending time together, healing, reminiscing, and enjoying each others company. There will be a remembrance service to remember the men lost, a group dinner, and limited scheduled activities. There will be door prizes during the group dinner. At this time, no expense is uncovered. We understand there are several who would like to donate to help cover costs, but at the time, there is no need. After the first of the year, we will start sending more and more communication to keep everyone updated, currently, there not much else to be put out."

Thank you,

Dan

Aaron

I guess you got the one from the 31st Regiment Association the day before. They have their ducks all in a row early it seems and everything all planned out. For a change, they actually used the mass email roster that Jerry gave them some time ago that they apparently never bothered to use before. Partly this is probably because whoever was supposed to send out the newsletter to members a couple of months ago was asleep at the wheel and it never happened. For them to invite people who were former veterans of the 6th of the 31st who weren't dues paying members of the Association is a new wrinkle on their part. I guess they saw...Charlie Tapp sure saw.... how at Branson more attendees were not Regiment Association members than members. He's the one who grabbed the open mike chance at the Memorial service to ask those not members to please stand up. Two thirds of the audience stood up. And the larger number of non members in attendance wasn't because the members were holding back for the 2015 California reunion. That California reunion was a near total bust by all reports in 6th of the 31st in attendance. We had more Association members from the 6th of the 31st at Branson than they did in California. Branson reunited more veterans in that one event than any event the 31st Association ever produced.

Many people given the chance to attend a stand alone reunion with the purpose of reuniting old brothers in arms from only the 6th of the 31st as the main and overriding purpose as opposed to a mythical Regiment reunion that is nothing more than a yearly cheerleading event for the modern Army probably would take the stand alone reunion.

Hopefully this latest email shows that Lt Dan and crew have awaken and see the threat that the 31st Regiment Association early reunion notification poses to the Branson 2 reunion. Most of us can afford only one reunion per year; therefore, here’s hoping that Branson can prove to be a more attractive location than Moline, Illinois.

They have an old list. Maybe they don't have your email....or they skipped a few names.
