Comment | ![]() In Memory of Kent Matthews 31st Infantry, 6th Battalion, 2nd Plt, Alpha 1969 - 1970 We were high school sweethearts from freshman year on, marrying one year after graduation in June 1968. Knowing his draft number was quickly approaching, Kent volunteered for the draft in October 1968, so that we could get on with our life. Kent left for Vietnam in March 1969. I was fortunate enough to meet him in Hawaii for R & R in October 1969. On January 18, 1970, Kent was I am so thankful that I was able to spend those few years with Kent. He was a great friend and husband. He loved his country and felt it was his duty to serve. I am sure he was a good soldier. Kent still lives deep in my heart and mind. I also think of his soldier friends often. God Bless all of you who served! Sincerely, Joann Matthews Manley
